Plus shouldn't be the next step just because you've grown
On an annual plan, Advanced costs €289 a month and Plus starts at €2,100. That jump only makes sense if you're going to use something Plus offers that the lower plans don't have. If you sign up for it based on sales volume without checking what features you actually need, it's easy to end up paying for a plan you're not using.
What decides whether Plus pays off
B2B price lists
Basic, Grow and Advanced give you up to 3 price lists. If you negotiate rates customer by customer or need to assign a price list directly to a company, that requires Plus.
Gateway fee
Without Shopify Payments, the extra fee drops from 0.6% on Advanced to 0.2% on Plus. At high volume, that difference alone can cover a good part of the price jump.
Checkout customisation
On Basic, Grow and Advanced, the checkout editor only lets you change colours, fonts and add app blocks on the thank-you page. The information, shipping and payment steps stay locked. Plus opens up those three steps through Checkout UI Extensions and Functions, so it's only worth it if you need to touch checkout beyond branding.
Managed international markets
With Shopify Managed Markets, the international transaction fee is 3.5% on the lower plans and 3.25% on Plus. At a high international sales volume, that 0.25% difference adds up.
API limit
Advanced gets 200 requests per second to the Admin API; Plus goes up to 1,000. If you sync with an ERP heavily and continuously, that headroom decides whether the integration runs without bottlenecks.
What doesn't change with Plus
A credit limit, negotiable quotes and internal order approval still don't exist natively, not even on Plus. If your operation needs that, the price jump won't solve it.
We run the numbers on your real figures: how much your gateway fee is costing you today, how many price lists you manage, and how close you are to your current plan's request limit. Sometimes the conclusion is that Plus pays for itself. Other times, that you've been paying for months without using what justifies the price.
